The Brass and I did a TV special for NBC called “The Beat Of The Brass.” In it was the debut of a song that I sang called “This Guy’s In Love With You,” which jumped to #1 two weeks after the show aired. It caught me completely by surprise. I recorded the vocal in one take and was under the impression that it was exclusively for the TV show. It was released because of popular demand. What a stroke of luck to have friends like Burt Bacharach and Hal David who wrote that timeless song. It was our first #1 single.
