Herb Alpert And Lani Hall To Perform The Final Two Of Six Dates At Vibrato Grill And Jazz On Tues. May 1 And Wed. May 2

LOS ANGELES, CA, April 30, 2007: This Tues., May 1 and Wed., May 2, Herb Alpert and Lani Hall will perform at their restaurant/music destination Vibrato Grill & Jazz in Bel Air, CA. The shows are the final two of six concerts they've played together there over the past three weeks. Herb and Lani take the stage at 8:30PM; the Pat Senatore Duo opens at 6:30PM.

Ever since the couple - who've been married for over thirty years - launched Vibrato in 2004 as a haven for top flight jazz and gourmet fine dining, fans and patrons have been hoping they'd see the proprietors' names on the bill. Those wishes have been fulfilled with an enchanting evening of stellar songs expressed with soul and passion by two consummately classy music icons.

A legendary trumpet player and co-founder of A&M Records, Herb Alpert is an 8X GRAMMY¨ winner with five #1 hits, fourteen platinum and fifteen gold albums spanning his years with the Tijuana Brass and as a solo artist. GRAMMY-winning vocalist Lani Hall first rose to global fame as lead singer for Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66. On their original, signature hit, the 1966 bossa nova smash, "Mais Que Nada," her driving lead vocal is unforgettable.

The last time that Hall and Alpert performed in concert together, in fact, was at a 2006 Hollywood Bowl celebration of Mendes, who was in the house on opening night (4/17) at Vibrato to see the duo - who met through him in the late '60s - in much more infinite confines. Alpert made a point of thanking Sergio for the personal happiness he made possible through the introduction, and the chemistry - both artistic and romantic - that Herb and Lani blissfully share informed their entire set.

Backed by piano, drums and guitar, Alpert laid down his warm signature trumpet lines with seemingly effortless grace. As only someone of his native musical intuition and vast talent could do so smoothly, he often played his instrument single-handed while leading the band with his other hand signaling behind his back, sometimes communicating to the players just by the motion of his pinky. Hall glided through elegantly-crafted songs, in English and Portuguese, by composers ranging from Antonio Carlos Jobim to Irving Berlin, her voice a sensual and sophisticated flow throughout.

Saying it "takes chutzpah to do this" in the middle of Hall's vocal virtuosity, Alpert sang lead on one song towards the end of the set, the Lerner & Loewe classic from My Fair Lady, "I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face." The extraordinary charm of the moment summed up the entire evening.

Vibrato Grill & Jazz is located at 2930 Beverly Glen Circle, Bel Air, CA, 90077. For information on availability for the remaining shows, please call 310.474.9400.
