Heather James Fine Art Herb Alpert Exhibit
Palm Desert, CA — Heather James Fine Art is proud to announce our new exhibition with Herb Alpert titled Whispered Conversations, curated by Chip Tom, opening March 8, 2023. The exhibition coincides with the beginning of a new musical tour for Alpert, his wife Lani Hall, and their band. Featuring all new paintings and sculptures by Alpert, Whispered Conversations includes works relating to the body with each painting and sculpture will be in dialogue with each other and made in a time of poignant reflection during the chaos of the last few years.

Since 2018, Heather James Fine Art has been proud to showcase another facet of one of America’s cultural and musical touchstones. From his coffee paintings to his towering bronze totems, Alpert has stretch himself not just in his music but also his visual artistic practice. Whispered Conversations is another step in that artistic evolution. These new paintings demonstrate Alpert’s continued conversation with Abstract Expressionism filtered through his own personal lens as well as his experience.
Since 1969, Alpert has imbued his music and art with an expressionist freedom of movement. It was during his worldwide tours with his band, the Tijuana Brass, that he was confronted with the most modern artworks in museums. His works have been exhibited internationally including the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming, Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage, California, and the inaugural Art Macao in 2019 in Wynn Macau’s Garden of Earthly Delight.
Despite the upheaval of the last few years, Alpert has remained creatively vital. In addition to this exhibition of works, he released his latest album, Sunny Side of the Street, in September 2022 and the premiere of his official documentary, Herb Alpert Is…, dropped in October 2020. This exhibition, coinciding with Herb Alpert and Lani Hall’s tour, is another endeavor that exemplifies Alpert’s continued creativity.
Alpert’s importance reaches far beyond his music and art. He is a co-founder of the legendary A&M Records and a philanthropist supporting the power of arts education for young people.
The exhibition will be on view March 8 – March 13, 9am to 5pm, at Heather James Fine Art at 45188 Portola Ave in Palm Desert, CA.
