That’s the song list given to the lights and sound director Darwin Best at Cafe Carlyle. On it are are some of the tunes that have helped sell 72 million records, placed 28 albums in the Billboard 200, including five#1’s.

Herb Alpert does not play many notes and they tend to be short in duration.  However, they are the perfect notes and they bring you to another time and place.  The Cafe Carlyle audience could hardly contain themselves last night.   At first it was silent reverence as the nostalgic sounds of his muted trumpet filled the room.
